The Japanese games market has continued to show clear signs of positive growth in 2006, with another week in which three of the top ten games all sold over 100,000 units. Final Fantasy XII fell off steeply from its opening weekend, though, to register 237,678 units sold.

Pokemon RangersIn the end, FF XII was almost beaten by the latest Pokémon spin-off, Pokémon Rangers: Diamond-Pearl e no Michi which registered 193,337 units sold on its debut. Nintendo has marketed the game in conjunction not only with a new movie in Japan but also as a prelude of sorts to the forthcoming Diamond and Pearl role-playing game sequels, and it is expected to enjoy considerable sales for a number of weeks.

Save the dub.

With all the recent heated talk about Pokémon USA going to switch the voice cast, a bunch of fans have got together and started a mail campaign to help save the US dub show.

If you want to help out, just read below the image to see how you can send a letter or email to Pokémon USA stating how you feel about your beloved Pokémon Animé.

There is also an online petition located at www.petitiononline.com/pkmnRB. This petition to Pokemon USA was created by Pokemon Rebirth and written by Gemma Bright (gemma.bright@gmail.com).

As many of you know, Pokémon USA has recently taken over the licensing rights for Pokémon from 4Kids Entertainment, who have been running it for the last 8 years. However, from e-mails we received from Eric Stuart and Veronica Taylor, two of the major voice actors who have been with the dub of the show since 1998, have said that since Pokémon USA is dubbing the show from Season 9 onwards, the company has decided to hire new voice actors... not just new ones to continue such as other tv shows have done, but new actors to IMITATE the current voice actors and try and get the same sounding voices.

Apparently, the upcoming 10th Anniversary special is going to be used as a testing ground for these new voices, but the voice actors for the 9th Season have yet to be chosen, possibly using this special as a test to see what us fans think... So, there is time to save it:

Many of the fans of the Animé across the community have suggested starting a Mail-In campaign in order to convince Pokémon USA that the dub should continue to be made with the previous Voice Actors, those who have put their hearts and souls into these characters for 8 years and have become attached to the characters.

While the show will still look the same, have the same plot lines, twists and so forth, the Voice Actors are what make a show and changing the voice actors mid-stride is just wrong and, in our opinion, bad for the franshise. We need to let Pokémon USA know how we feel about the current voice actors and any possible changes they make. The way we suggest to do this is to either send an e-mail to the Pokémon Company (feedback@pokemon.com) or, preferably, to send a snail mail to:

Dear Sir or Madam:

It has come to our attention that, besides using a team of sound-alike voice actors/actresses for the 10th anniversary Pokémon special, you are also considering replacing the original voice acting cast of the series from the next season onward. As long-term fans of the dub this news has caused us much disappointment.

We, the fans, believe that replacing the main cast at such a late stage would cause interest in the Pokémon animé (and possibly the franchise as a whole) to noticeably decrease. We feel this is because many viewers enjoy watching the show just to hear their favorite voice actor or actress perform, and they wouldn't imagine the characters sounding any different.

We all love the VAs for the major characters. There are other ways to save money than to change the VAs. Making fewer edits on episodes should save quite a bit of money and time. Keep the fan base (which consists not just of kids, but of people of all age groups) strong first, then the money will roll in on its own. That way, we'll all be happy.

With this in mind, we hope that you will consider such a decision very carefully.

Sincerely,

______________________________

Please take a minute and support our beloved dub version, thanks.

4 Pokémon

As you know, most hardcore Pokémon fans (such as myself) have been watching the US show ever since it first started airing way back when and all the characters have had the same exact voices (and Voice Actors) for all this time. Now we see the possibility (not 100% confirmed) of changes being made to the voice cast..Pokémon USA

As a fellow fan, PokémonTrainerLisa says, "So I see no reason why they should just go and change ALL the characters' voices!! That would just be crazy!!"

I agreee, you have to make up your own mind. Heres a tidbit from an email I recieved from Eric Stuart to help you out:
Originally Posted by Eric Stuart via email:

They are starting with the 10 year anniversary special - starring all new voices. The main cast, me included, has taken a lot of pride in the characters we have helped to create. To change now, on the last season, based on greed is a sad example of what big buisness kids marketing really is.

Please spread the word - maybe some fan buzz can stop this tragedy.

Hopefully we will see this game in English in the not to distance future. The whole Pokémon Ranger ideal seems to fit nicely into the Pokemon realm. I think Fmitsu hit the mark, its not 'Outstanding' or 'Revolutionary' but its fun and different.

Ranger

The official Japanese site for Pokémon Rangers has updated with new characters, new area screen shots and added more info on the capture device.New Ranger character: Kamari New characters Kamari, Erida, and GooGoo Dan (Team GooGoo) have been introduced.

We have a few screens here and will update the ranger's section here on PPN as soon as we finish translating the official pages.

From what we've gathered so far, the team leaders all seem to be associated with a logo, kind of like a compass in various colors, all four cardinal directions (N,S,E,W) are now represented.

The general storyline is that the main character is learning by observation to be a Pokémon Ranger, working for Team Leaders whom you visit in their home towns one by one, going from harbor city, to jungle area, to mountain region all to learn to be a Pokémon Ranger.

~NOW PLAYING~

Nintendo systems have always been home to great puzzle games, and the added abilities of Nintendo DS add a new dimension to game play. Players use the touch screen to slide Pokémon puzzle pieces side to side or up and down. Lining up four in a row (vertically or horizontally) makes a "Trozei" and clears the screen. When players create continuous Trozeis by lining up three in a row, then two in a row, they will clear the screen faster and increase their score.POKEMON TROZEI

Pokémon Trozei, available Monday, March 6, 2006, features two single-player modes and two two-player modes. As an added bonus for Pokémon fans, players also try to add each of the more than 380 Pokémon featured in the game to their Trozei Lists.

Players can increase their chances of finding rare Pokémon by playing wirelessly with friends. Pokémon Trozei is easy to pick-up and play, but you'll have a tough time putting it down! Get yours NOW!
